The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. While ANSI does not develop standards itself, it accredits standards-developing organizations and ensures that their processes are open, balanced, and adhere to due process. ANSI also helps coordinate U.S. standards with international standards to promote global compatibility and trade.
