The International Organization for Standards (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization made up of national standards bodies that develops and publishes over 20,000 voluntary proprietary, industrial, and commercial standards. Organizations that abide by these quality standards demonstrate that their business processes are consistent with international best practices. Formal ISO certification, carried out by external certification bodies, validates that an organization’s processes, products, and services conform to ISO standards.
